Is Medicare Family Health Insurance?

Medicare is the nation’s largest health insurance program. It is not strictly family health insurance but it provides health cover. It covers people age 65 and over, disabled persons under 65 and persons with permanent kidney failure. Medicare has two parts: Part A is usually fully funded for participants over the age of 65 and pays for such family health insurance services as hospital care, nursing facilities, and hospice. This part has no premium because as the participant or their spouse worked and they paid family health insurance through Medicare taxes. Part B pays for such services as physician, outpatient hospital, and therapists that are medically necessary.
